Vin Diesel

A smooth-skulled former bouncer with a formidable silhouette, Vin Diesel was born Mark Sinclair Vincent in New York City on July 18, 1967. He initially launched his career as a filmmaker, debuting his short "Multi-Facial" at the Cannes Film Festival in 1995 and his first full-length feature, Strays, at Sundance in 1997.

But it was his acting, via his portrayal of a rough-voiced rifleman in Saving Private Ryan (1998), that launched him into the realm of stardom. Since then, Diesel cemented his reputation as a seasoned action hero, perfecting his on-screen persona in films such as Pitch Black (2000), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), The Fast and the Furious (2001) and XXX (2002).

Much like muscled action star Arnold Schwarzenegger, however, Diesel has also tried his hand at slapstick humor, playing a Navy SEAL turned baby sitter in the family-friendly Disney comedy The Pacifier (2005).
