Sanjay Dutt

An immensely popular and controversial star of Indian cinema, Sanjay Dutt (known as Sanjay Baba to his legions of fans) was born July 29, 1959, in India. His first of more than 100 film appearances was in 1981's Rocky.

In the '90s, he made headlines in India with his marital, drug and legal problems. He was arrested for illegal weapons possession and spent three years in prison.

Dutt returned to Bollywood glory upon his release with Daag: the Fire, Vaastav, Haseena Maan Jaayegi (all 1999), Mission Kashmir and Kaante (2002). He was honored with the Best Actor in a Leading Role prize for Vaastav at India's Filmfare Awards and has won numerous other acting awards as well. Also a renowned singer, Dutt has performed on many Bollywood soundtracks.
