Ray Romano

A veteran stand-up comic turned actor, Ray Romano was born Dec. 21, 1957, in Queens, N.Y. He got his big break thanks to a 1991 gig on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" and was later featured on HBO in "The 15th Annual Young Comedians Special" (hosted by Dana Carvey).

Tickled by Romano's deadpan delivery, late-night staple David Letterman asked his production company to create a sitcom that would showcase the funnyman's talents. The series -- "Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996-2005) -- became a smash hit, earning the actor three Emmy Awards (in 2002, '03 and '05) along with a slew of other nominations.

Romano debuted on the big screen providing the voice of a woolly mammoth named Manny in Ice Age (2002), reprising the role in Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006). Other noteworthy cinematic efforts include Welcome to Mooseport, Eulogy and the documentary 95 Miles to Go (all 2004).
