With roots in the theater, Eisenberg made his silver-screen debut playing Campbell Scott's nephew in the indie comedy Roger Dodger (2002). Eisenberg earned kudos from critics for his poignant turn as a conflicted teen in The Squid and the Whale (2005) and won over audiences while fighting the undead alongside Woody Harrelson in Zombieland (2009).
Eisenberg scored his first Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for his portrayal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network (2010).
