Emily Blunt

A remarkably versatile British actress with a penchant for accents and quirky characters, Emily Blunt was born Feb. 23, 1983, in London. After extensive speech therapy, she overcame a childhood stutter to make a triumphant stage debut in 2001 opposite Judi Dench in "The Royal Family."

Thanks to critically acclaimed turns in Gideon's Daughter (for which she won a Golden Globe) and My Summer of Love (2004), Blunt was well-established in her native England when she landed her first Hollywood film, playing a pin-thin fashionista in The Devil Wears Prada. As Meryl Streep's sneering personal assistant, she again stole critics' hearts -- and her fair share of scenes.

Since then, Blunt's cinematic choices have kept audiences guessing. In 2009 alone, she played a scatterbrained American crime-scene cleaner in Sunshine Cleaning and a famed English queen in The Young Victoria.
