Matthew Fox

A former model who found his way to acting by way of television commercials, Matthew Fox was born in Crowheart, Wyo., on July 14, 1966. He grew up on a cattle ranch and, for a short time, attended classes in a one-room schoolhouse where his mother was a teacher.

Fox earned a degree in economics from Columbia University, with plans to work on Wall Street. But he ended up becoming one of the hottest young stars on television after landing the role of eldest brother Charlie Salinger on the critically acclaimed drama "Party of Five" (1994-2000).

Fox scored again on the small screen as one of the castaways on "Lost" (2004-10), earning Golden Globe and Emmy nods plus a shared Screen Actors Guild Award for best ensemble in a drama series, for his portrayal of surgeon Jack Shephard. His film credits include supporting roles in We Are Marshall (2006) and Speed Racer (2008).
