Helen Hunt

The daughter of director and acting coach Gordon Hunt, Helen Hunt was born June 15, 1963, in Los Angeles, Calif. Acting in dozens of television series and movies since age 10, Hunt landed her first notable adult role as Clancy Williams on the 1980s TV series "St. Elsewhere."

After a run of supporting parts in films, Hunt received high praise for her role in The Waterdance (1992). She became a household name through the 1990s thanks to her role as Jamie Buchman in the long-running sitcom "Mad About You," which earned her three Emmy awards.

After the big-screen blockbuster Twister (1996), Hunt nabbed her first Best Actress Oscar for As Good As It Gets (1997), making her the only actress to win a Golden Globe, an Oscar and an Emmy in the same calendar year. In 2000, she scored two major hits with Cast Away and What Women Want.
