Kiefer Sutherland

As the son of actors Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland seemed destined to act. Born Dec. 21, 1966, in London (along with a twin sister), he moved to California when his father's movie career took off.

After dropping out of high school at age 16, Sutherland landed his first notable movie role in The Bay Boy (1984) and received high praise for his portrayal of a bully in Stand by Me (1986). He followed up with The Lost Boys (1987), two Young Guns films, Flatliners (1990) and a string of memorable supporting parts in movies such as A Few Good Men (1992) and A Time to Kill (1996).

Sutherland took his first stab at feature directing in 1997 with Truth or Consequences, N.M. His performance as counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer in the hit TV drama "24" earned him more than a few Emmy and Golden Globe nods, with a win for each in 2006 and 2002, respectively.
